Rates & Insurance

I understand the cost of therapy can be an important factor when considering including the therapeutic journey into your life. I strive to always be transparent and informative which is why I list my fees and methods of payment to help answer any preliminary questions. I honor the anxiety and unknown involved in the process of determining how and when to reach out for support.

I want to highlight that I believe the fees for service to be more of a conversation than a fixed menu list of prices which is why I  encourage you to please contact me directly for a phone consultation so we can determine together a suitable fee that will be affordable for consistent therapy necessary to meet your therapeutic and life goals. Money is part of the therapeutic process and I do my best to work with clients to make the financial aspect of therapy manageable.  We all have a unique relationship to money which is why I think it is important to give it space to be discussed in our first phone consultation.

INSURANCE
At this time, I am considered an out of network provider. If you have insurance, services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check with your insurance company in advance regarding their requirements for reimbursement by asking them the following questions:

    • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
    • What is my deductible and has it been met?
    • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
    • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
    • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

Insurance can be challenging to navigate for some clients. To use the coverage, or to not use the coverage? Here are some things to keep in mind. Just because you may have insurance, does not necessarily mean you must use your insurance. There are many people who wish to not use their insurance. Its important to note when using insurance you must be given a mental health diagnosis to justify the insurance company making payment. Insurance payment is not guaranteed, and the client is responsible for payment should the insurance company not pay. I realize that sounds like it is all about money, but there is a business side to therapy that is best addressed before beginning.

If utilizing your health benefits feels right for you please know I do not bill insurance providers directly. I do provide a receipt on a monthly basis or a super bill that can be submitted by you to your insurance provider for reimbursement for out of pocket expenses. Please ask me about this prior to your schedule appointment.

    FLEX SPENDING
I recommend checking with your employer to see if they offer flexible spending plans. If so, that can greatly reduce the cost of therapy. I am happy to provide a monthly statement for you to submit to your insurance company upon request.

    REDUCED FEE
Reduced fee services, also referred to as a “sliding fee” scale, may be available for those who are unable to afford my full fee on a limited basis. The fee is determined based on a conversation we have together taking into consideration your income and overall financial situation. Please call to find out what reduced rate I can offer you if you feel you are eligible.

    CANCELLATION POLICY
To cancel an appointment, please let me know 48 hours in advance. Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance will result in a charge of the full session fee. Exceptions are made for emergencies and extenuating circumstances.
